Abstract
539,902. Protective cut-out arrangements. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., and CLEMETSON, J. G. May 15, 1940, No. 8676. [Class 38 (v)] An arc such as that 9, between the conductors 1, 2 of an A.C. transmission line, or between a line and earth, is suppressed by means of an instantaneous, high rupturing-capacity fuse 5 which is connected across the conductors by a switch A operated by a trip coil 7 in response to the high overload set up. The fuse may be replaced by a trippable circuit-breaker, or a momentary-contact switch may make an alternative path on the occurrence of an overload due to the arc. The Specification refers also to a fuse and manually-operable switch for making a short-circuiting path.
