Abstract

227,930. Reyrolle & Co., Ltd., A., and Leeson, B. H. Oct. 26, 1923. Protective arrangements. - In order to indicate the faulty feeder in a split-conductor system, the relay which trips out the parallel feeders is provided with a polarizing winding to give a directional movement to its movable member, depending on the direction of the flux in the core of the split-conductor transformer. In the polyphase system shown the split conductors C, C<1> are surrounded by a transformer core E- carrying a secondary winding G connected to the relay winding J<1>. The pivoted relay armature J<2> is provided with a polarizing winding J<3> fed from a potential transformer K K' connected across the lines A - - C. The direction of the flux in the core E<2> corresponding to a faulty condition of either feeder causes the arm J<2> to rock in one or other direction so operating bridging contact J<4> or J<5> to energise the circuitbreaker trip coil O. Indicators M M<1> are provided to denote which pair of fixed relay contacts have been bridged and, consequently which feeder is faulty. Before the sound feeder is switched again into the circuit the isolating switch F<1> or F<2> in the faulty feeder is opened and a switch H moved over ,to connect the winding B to an overload relay P.
