Abstract

539,795. Filtering gases. SENTINEL WAGGON WORKS (1936), Ltd., and ALLEY, S. E. March 19,1940, Nos. 5053/40 and 699/41. [Class 8 (ii)] Gas is cleaned by passage inwards through a tubular filter 33, and escapes through the perforated end plate 37 to pass through a further filter of tow, sponge cloth &c. held between perforated plates 52, 53, and so to an outlet 12. The tubular filter is supported by a flange 35 resting on a flange 31 of the casing the flanges being pressed into contact by a screwed spindle 40 bearing on the plate 52. The plates 52, 53 are pressed together by a screwed spindle 20 pressing on the lid 15 which carries an extension 54 bearing on the plate 53. In a modification, the filter 33 may be formed as a cylindrical annulus closed at the bottom and open at the top. Specification 539,794, [Group XII], is referred to.
