Abstract

542,560. Filtering gases. HEATHER, F. July 9, 1940, No. 11446. [Class 8 (ii)] [Also in Group XII] A travelling band filter comprising a number of parallel brush elements, the bristles 7 of which are constrained to form a screen through which fluid to be filtered passes. Grids 4, 5, 6 of an open character deflect the brush bristles. The brushes are cleaned by passage through a liquid bath 13 or by brushing or knocking. They may be rotatably mounted in chains to form the filter band, or the band may comprise linked casings, each containing one or more filters.
