549,345. Gas scrubbers. IRVING, F. A. June 4, 1941, No. 13719. Divided out of 542,906. [Class 55 (ii)] In a gas scrubbing device for use in gas producer plant, the gas passes through a perforated pipe 37 just below the level of water in the base of a drum 36, causing a spray of water in the drum. Surplus water is removed by baffles 44 before the gas passes through a filter 42 comprising horsehair or coke held between perforated plates 45, 46, the latter being spring pressed. Any water reaching the filter chamber is returned by a pipe 49 to the chamber 36, the cleaned gas passing to an exit 48. A gas producer and grit extractor for use with the device are of the kind described in Specification 542,906.
