561,928. Washing gases. ASKEY, P. J., HARDING, E., HALES, J. S., SKINNER, D. G., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Aug. 20,1941, No. 10613. [Class 55 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Producer or other gas entering by an inlet 3 is moistened, e.g. by injecting steam or by passing through a bubble washer having perforated plates 1 and cooled to form a mist, e.g. by expansion in the chamber 5, in which a baffle 2 may be provided to remove large drops of liquid and to effect cooling by radiation ; the mist and dustladen gas passes through the slagwool &c. filter packed without channeling ; the cleaned gas passing away through the outlet 7; the mist is condensed in the filter and the liquid formed drains away, removing dust with it.
