538,951. Rotary pumps. FULCHER, F. C. Jan. 20, 1940, No. 1265. [Class 110 (ii)] Leakage of air through the ball-bearings, supporting the trunnion of the overhung rotor 9 of a rotary pump, is prevented by a non-rotary sleeve 22, mounted on a distance piece 7 which rotates with the trunnion, which contacts with the outer fixed race rings 13. The sleeve 22 may be replaced by two telescoping sleeves pressed axially by a spring. Piston ring packings may be provided between the piece 7 and the sleeve 22. The pump may be of the kind described in Specifications 522,470, 522,471, 522,472, 522,473 and 529,503.
