Abstract

538,562. Refrigerating cabinets. ELECTROLUX, Ltd. Dec. 7, 1939, No. 31751. Convention date, Dec. 22, 1938. [Class 29] In a refrigerating cabinet cooled by absorption apparatus with the absorber 21 and the condenser 13 located in. an air shaft along one wall of the cabinet, as set forth in Specification 300,589, [Class 29], the condenser constituted by finned straight pipes extending substantially right across the air shaft is located so that the upper edges of the fins 48 are at least 5 cm. below the upper end of the air shaft, which is formed at the end to reduce resistance to air flow to below that offered by the condenser. Where a rectifier 12 and a pre-condenser 45 are located above the condenser, the common fins 47 are reduced in area around the rectifier to diminish the air resistance and the cooling effect. The air shaft may be formed by extensions 42 of the side walls of the cabinet, and may be open at the back, and guide plates 49 may be fitted at the ends of the condenser tubes. The absorber and the rectifier, as also the pre-condenser may be without fins, and the condenser preferably comprises pipes spaced horizontally in a manner to surround a rising air stream. The gas heat exchanger 18 is shown with a jacket 27 at its end as described in Specification 537,507. Various dispositions of the condenser, rectifier and pre-condenser pipes are described.
