Abstract
536,923. Mercury parasiticides. BERK & CO., Ltd., F. W. (Endowment Foundation). Feb. 17, 1940, No. 3076. [Class 81 (i)] [Also in Group II] A composition for controlling plant parasites in or on the soil comprises metallic mercury in a finely divided state on a carrier including at least one metal in the electromotive series above mercury. The carrier may be a dust of bentonite, talc, &c. or a metallic powder. The mercury is applied by causing a current of air to pass over boiling mercury and to carry its vapour into contact with the dust carried from another vessel. Mercury may be applied to the following finely divided metals : magnesium, aluminium, manganese, zinc, cadmium, iron, nickel, tin, lead, copper, bismuth, antimony.
