Abstract

535,954. Heating air. KEITH. BLACKMAN, Ltd., and KEITH, G. Nov. 23, 1939, No. 30646. [Class 64 (i)] A gas-heated air heater consists of an annular chamber 1 containing gas burners 2, and a fan 4 which draws air through the space 3 bounded by the chamber. Air for combustion is drawn into the chamber through apertures 5 in its outer wall and the products are discharged through apertures 6 in its inner wall. A pivoted disc 7 over the inlet to the space 3 and normally held in an inclined positon by a weight 10 is brought into a horizontal position by the incoming air when the fan is started and operates through a sliding pin connection 15 the gas supply control valve 13, in the manner described in Specification 362,630. A thermostatic device 14 displaces the connection 15 to interrupt the operation of the gas supply valve when the pilot flame is extinguished. Air may be admitted to the heating space through a central pipe 17.
