Abstract
535,696. Water tube steam boilers. LEWIS, W. Y. Oct. 12, 1939, No. 27744. [Class 123 (ii)] In a field-tube boiler, the inner tubes g are held between notched plates c at the bottom of a trough in the steam drum, the plates being pressed together by screws f at the ends of the trough, which is supported between side plates j and end plates with openings covered by wire screens. The front end of the trough and side plates j are of reduced height at the front end ; and the spaces z between them at this end are closed. Steam from the outer tubes b passes up through the spaces between the rear end of the trough and the side plates. The upper ends of the tubes g are covered by a wire screen.
