[Class 38 (iii)] To improve the torque-speed characteristics of an inducaion motor in starting up the rotor is connected through slip rings to a starter comprising a non-inductive resistance or a plurality of such resistances and an inductive winding unparallel with the resistance or with each of them and wound upon a laminated magnetic core having a high hystereses loss. The core may consist of cast iron plates # inch to 3/16 inch thick. Specifications 11843/99, [Class 35], 187,264, [Class 38 (iii)], and 360,526 are referred to.
