581,871. Induction motor windings. SCHWARZ, B. July 4, 1944, No. 12758. [Class 35] An induction motor secondary comprises a double-layer low reactance winding in outer slots wound for half the number of primary winding poles with turns or groups of turns short-circuited on themselves, also high reactance conductors in deeper slots and connected to the end connections of some or all of the low reactance coils. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the secondary for a six-pole motor with twenty-four rotor slots comprises a low reactance winding which includes turns 1, 1A, 2, 2A, 3, 4 disposed in outer slots and high reactance conductors 5, 6, 7 in deep slots, but, if desired, the low reactance winding may comprise simple loops as shown in Fig. 4, there being a 'high reactance conductor 5, 6 across some loops as shown or across all loops. Each high reactance conductor can be split into two parallel connected portions situated in slots at slightly different depths.
