Abstract

534,888. Coating metal articles. NATIONAL SMELTING CO., Ltd.; EVANS, H. L., and DERHAM, L. J. June 20, 1939, No. 18229/38. [Class 82 (ii)] Iron, steel or other metal articles such as nuts, bolts, pressings, stampings &c. are coated with zinc, cadmium, lead, aluminium, or tin by agitating them with an aqueous suspension of the powdered coating metal or metals, for example zinc powder containing 90 per cent. or more of zinc. The suspension may contain also salts such as zinc chloride or a mixture of zinc chloride and ammonium chloride, or it may contain metallic or non-metallic additions such as sand or grit. The articles to be coated may previously have been sherardized, and a charge to be treated may consist of metal articles of various sizes, large articles being, for example, mixed with nails or screws, or metal filings or swarf.
