Abstract

534,071. Air-tight doors. CROUCHER; A. B., and PARSONS,H. J. Dec. 27, 1939, No. 32864. [Class 20 (iii)] A door for closing the entrance of airraid shelters of the corrugated iron type, and to prevent the entry of gas, water, and flying fragments comprises a corrugated panel mounted on a lower hinge B and opening downwardly, packing J being provided between the door and the face of the shelter. The door is faced with a flat strengthening plate L a bottom extension 0 of which is curved inwardly and then continued rearwardly in a flat portion P to form a recess into which fits the bottom centre plate E of the door opening when the door is open as shown in Fig. 3. The door is secured closed by a pair of bars L2 with bent ends V-mounted on a spindle U to which they are secured so that they move together to embrace the sides of the door opening-
