536,540. Air-raid shelters; fortifications. TYERMAN, B. E. Dec. 4, 1939, No. 31405. [Class 20 (i)] An air-raid shelter or machine-gun post comprises an outer fixed chamber, the walls E of which are fixed to uprights A, and an inner chamber K suspended by means of springs K2 within the outer chamber. The outer chamber is protected by plates J2 resiliently mounted upon plates J3 secured to the outer sides of the uprights and inclined side extension plates with outwardly flared lower edges are fixed to the edges of the roof G of the outer chamber. A pyramidal roof with sand filling is superposed on the roof of the outer chamber. Cushioning springs L may be interposed between the walls of the inner and outer chambers, and auxiliary seats J4 may be provided on the plates J3. The inner chamber is provided with a gas tight door M and the inclined protection plates are provided with entrance apertures and sliding doors.
