Abstract
509,358. Doors;panels. MORAWETZ, H. April 14, 1938, No. 11502. Convention date, April 15, 1937. [Classes 20 (iii) and 20 (iv)] A door, panel or similar plate-like structure is provided with chamfered edges which are enclosed by a metal edging-strip 6 of substantially U cross-section having inwardly bent resilient limbs 8, 9. The plate-like structure shown in Fig. 1, comprises a wooden core 1 provided on each side with an asbestoscement sheet 2, 5 glued thereto, and the necessary chamfering is provided on the edges of the sheets 2, 5. Each of the four edges of a door may be provided with an edging-strip, and these strips may be connected at the corners by welding. One of the strips on a door may be constructed with an abutment ledge 7, as shown in Fig. 3, to serve as a striker. The limbs of the strips are made springy by heat-treatment or hammering so that they grip firmly the edges of the panel. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 states that the edging strip 6 and covering-sheets 2, 5 are only preferably formed of metal and asbestos-cement respectively. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
