Abstract
533,969. Galvanizing. WEAN ENGINEERING CO., Inc. Sept. 7, 1939, No. 25235. Convention date, Sept. 15, 1938. [Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Group XXX] A conveyer adapted to receive sheets from a galvanizing pot comprises a pair of spaced driving-chains, a belt of flexible mesh between the chains, stretcher bars extending through the mesh secured to the chains and a magnetic pulley around which the conveyer is trained. As shown in cross-section in Fig. 6, the belt comprises parallel side chains 37 connected at intervals by cross bars 43 pivoted at 45 to L-shaped projections formed on some of the links of the chain. The cross-bars pass through the flexible woven metal structure 36 forming the surface of the belt. Metal sheets are carried through a galvanising tank 10, Fig. 3, and on emerging from the tank through the rollers 11, are held by the magnetized guide roller 13 of a spangle-forming conveyer in accordance with the invention during their passage up the incline to the first guide pulley 14. The belt, guiderollers and driving sprocket 16 are mounted on a frame 17 to form a unit. A second similar conveyer acts as the cooling conveyer and is arranged as a unit at the end of the spangle conveyer. The latter conveyer carries the sheets between air-sprays applied to both surfaces of the sheets.
