Abstract

Endless-chain, elevators with platform carriers; carriers, attaching to chains; delivery and feeding devices.-In a drying oven for metal plates &c., in which the plates travel in substantially vertical paths, carriers K being mounted on endless chains . F so that the plates are maintained substantially horizontal, a small conveyer or roller'or rollers are provided so that the plates are rolled across from a carrier on the rising side of the conveyer to a carrier on the halting side, the plates thus remaining the same side up. Two rollers D are loosely mounted on the shaft carrying the conveyer sprockets B, and are rotated at a higher speed than the shaft through gearing D<3>. The construction of the chains F and carriers K may be as described in Specification 328,624, the carriers having hooked ends which act as spacing members and retain the plates when on the downward path. The plates may be fed by a conveyer G or by an oscillating arm from a platform and are raised from the hooks by a ramp at the discharge point. The feed and discharge points may be at opposite ends of a horizontal part F<1> of the conveyer or the part F<1> may be utilized as a cooling zone.
