Abstract
569,882. Metal - heating furnaces. INCANDESCENT HEAT CO., Ltd., and GROVES, H. July 3, 1943; No. 10820. [Class 51 (ii)] [Also in Groups II and XXX] A flexible conveyer especially for heattreatment apparatus has spaced carriers f and is associated with an inclined track h for part of its run on which the carriers automatically bunch together with. the flexible conveyer looped between the carriers, a stationary period being thus permitted to each carrier. The conveyer comprises a pair of endless chains a driven by a sprocket b and connected by spaced rods e with rollers e at each end adapted to run - on a horizontal track j and in the inclined track h. Freely suspended from the rods e are the cradles or baskets f which receive the articles to be treated as the cradles pass downwardly in front of the outlet from a furnace c. The conveyer then passes into a quenching bath d and the rollers e<1> enter the inclining track h within the bath, the weight of the cradle being thus transferred to the track and the rollers running freely down the track so that the cradles are bunched together with the chains looped between them and remain stationary for a predetermined period until the slack is taken up. The cradles are unloaded at g. The invention may be applied to pickling, drying, cleaning or washing operations. The conveyer may be intermittently driven.
