533,947. Control of A.C. motors. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd., and HARTSHORN. J. S. Nov. 22, 1939, No. 30557. [Class 38 (iii)] Relates to the control of electric motors, particularly induction motors for winding as in the Specification 514,540 wherein means is provided which, when the control lever is moved to the " off " position with the motor still running, any further movement of the control lever in either forward or reverse direction produces dynamic braking. According to the present invention the means for making the transfer to dynamic braking is actuated on the initial movement of the mechanical brake lever to apply the brake. As soon as the brake is applied it causes rotation of a notched disc to cause closure of a contactor which prepares the circuit for dynamic braking and also actuates means such as additional contacts on the contactor to indicate to the driver that the gear is in the dynamic braking position.
