Abstract

Systems controlling travel for a fixed distance. -In. controlling an electric motor to move a weight or other member for any desired distance, as in the brake-operating mechanism described in Specification 268,621, [Class 103 (i), Brakes &c.], the required displacement is imparted by hand to a controller possessing two stepped contact segments 48, 49 co-operating with stationary studs 50, 51 which are connected through separate conductors to studs and sliders 62, 63. Movement of the controller in either direction from the full-line position of the diagram de-energizes one or the other of a pair of relay coils 56. 57, which act respectively to switch in the motor 28 for forward or reverse rotation through contacts 58, 59, and 61. When both relay coils are simnltaneously energized, the motor is cut-out of the circuit, this result being attained when the sliders 62, 63, which move with the motor driven weight, arrive on studs corresponding to these selected on the controller.
