[Class 28 (ii)] A grating machine adapted to be clamped to the edge of a table comprises a housing 1 provided with a discharge opening 2 overhanging the table a considerable distance from the edge, and with a number of radiating ribs 14 which co-operate with blades 8<SP>1</SP> on the surface of a rotatable cutting-disc 8 in the form of a spherical cap, the housing being provided with fastening surfaces or lugs 13 for attaching other apparatus, such as a fruit, bread &c. slicing machine, to utilize the same crank drive 11. The first radial rib to co-operate with the blades 8<SP>1</SP> after they have passed the delivery opening from the hopper 3 is located below the horizontal central plane, and consists of a number of individual wedgeshaped ribs arranged close together. A slicing- machine to be operated by the same drive comprises a rotary cutting-blade and a stationary feeding-platform arranged below the centre of the cutting-blade and attached to the parts 13 of the housing 1 by a strap, the thickness of the slice being determined by a stop-plate adjustable on the platform, which also carries an arcuate guard covering the rotary blade, except for the feeding opening thereto.
