407,389. Slicing vegetables. FLEMING, J. M., Grangehurst, Lynton Park, Cheadle Hulme, Cheshire, and BARNES, W. H., 9, Badminton Road, Chorlton-cum- Hardy, Manchester. Sept. 17, 1932, No. 25866. [Class 5 (i).] A domestic machine for slicing oranges and other fruit or vegetables, of the type in which a plurality of cutters d are carried upon a rotary disc D inside a recessed casing A having a marginal outlet and an eccentrically disposed feed hopper, comprises, in combination, a cylindrical feed hopper a formed in one with the casing, an annular rib a<1> cast around the interior of the feed hopper and ground to an edge between which and the blades d on the rotary disc the fruit is sliced with a scissor action, and a guard or cover plate F to enclose the cutter disc and to direct the slices to the discharge outlet which is formed in the peripheral flange B of the casing. The plate F may be secured to the casing or may rotate with the cutter disc. According to the Provisional Specification, the disc may carry one cutter only.
