Abstract
191,081. Harder, H. Dec. 31, 1921, [Convention date]. Graters and crumblers.-A machine for cutting, shredding and grating vegetables or bread comprises a spider frame 2 in which the bevel-wheel shafts 3, 5 are journaled, the shaft 5 terminating in a plate 6 having two curved vanes which project the vegetables centrifugally against a replaceable cylinder adapted either for cutting or grating. A casing having a hopper 18 encloses the cylinder, and the shredded or grated material is discharged from a shoot 20. The cylinder, Fig. 5, is stiffened by a wire 24, and the bottom flange 25 is recessed at 26, to engage lugs 28 whereby it is rotated and locked in position. For cutting, one or more knives 31 project through slots in the cylinder. These may be oblique or vertical, and they may be integral with the cylinder. For grating, the cylinder is provided with round or square apertures. The machine may be adapted for power driving by removing the wheel 8 and sleeve 12 and mounting a fast and loose pulley on the shaft 3.
