Abstract

530,264. Planetary gearing. KOLSTERBRANDES, Ltd., and TILLER, P. A. June 6, 1939, No. 16605. [Classes 80 (i) and 80 (ii)] [Also in Group XXXVI] A condenser drive mechanism is adapted to operate at two different speeds. The spindle 1, floating reaction member 5, and cage 4 with ball bearings engaging both the spindle and reaction member, function as an epicyclic reduction gear to rotate the sleeve 4 which is integral with the driving pulley, the member 5 being frictionally engaged by a bowed leaf spring 6. A stop 4A engages a pin 1A after a limited rotation of spindle 1. The spindle, sleeve, and reaction member thereafter rotate together, the reaction member slipping with respect to spring 6. The pressure of the spring is adjusted by means of a bracket 7 sliding obliquely on a stud fixed to the frame 2, the position of the bracket being controlled by a screw 9 pressing against a turnedup lip 7C.
