529,954. Grates. SOUTH METROPOLITAN GAS CO., FLAVEL & CO., Ltd., S., FUIDGE, G. H., and FLAVEL, S. W. B. June 13, 1939, No. 17280. [Class 126] The air supply to the space beneath a grate is regulated by an apertured slide which with its seating is inclined to the vertical, the slide being uppermost so that it is urged into contact with its seating by its weight. As shown, the slide 2 is arranged on the front of the ashpan which has an inclined upper part 1 and a vertical lower part 4. The slide rests upon a ledge 3 and is provided with lugs 5 which act as guides, The slide is actuated by a knob 6 which projects through an aperture 15 in a dummy port 11. Air passes to the apertured slide through the space between the inner and outer plates 8, 9, 11. Specification 529,955 is referred t6.
