[Class 126] In a gas fire comprising a flat combustion chamber having a fret front 2 substantially parallel to a plane back surface heated to incandescence by a burner 3, the total area of the openings in the fret is between 30 per cent and 60 per cent of the whole incandescent surface. The incandescent surface may be formed by the back wall of the chamber, as shown, or by a plate or plates attached to it. Small projections may be provided on the inner face of the fret. but not on the incandescent surface at the rear of the chamber. The fret may be exchangeable for another of different design.
