Abstract
529,154. Dispensing liquids. PRECISION METERS, Ltd., and HORTON, F. May 23, 1939, No. 15335. [Class 102 (ii)] Oil is supplied from a pump to a container 1 against its spring-pressed piston 9 through a non-return valve 32 located in a nozzle 23 offset from the side of the container and adapted for insertion in a supply fitting on the pump. Oil seeping past the piston, and air below the piston, pass into a plugged bore 15 into an apertured tube 17 carried by the plug within an axial tube 7 with an air outlet 19 at its top. The nozzle is turned to operate a bayonet joint with the supply fitting by a handle 26 through a sleeve 24 and tube 29. A drip valve 40 is provided on an extension of the valve. The valve has a lost-motion connection through a tube 34 with a rod 36 which is withdrawn, to open the valve for delivery of oil by the spring-pressed piston, by a handle 48. The nozzle may be fixed and the supply fitting rotatable. Alternatively, the nozzle may be pushed into the fitting which then holds it by catches, and the valve 32 may be located at the end of the nozzle, the drip valve being omitted.
