Abstract
457,041. Preventing drip. ROBERTSON, C. P., Mount Pleasant Works, Mount Pleasant Lane, Upper Clapton, London. May 16, 1935, Nos. 14393/35 and 5807/36. [Class 102 (i)] A pump for a reservoir brush or scent spray &c. is provided with means for preventing escape of liquid when the article is not in use. The pump comprises a fixed plunger A, which is secured to the reservoir B by means of a union 46 clamped by a screw plug 48. The liquid passes through passages 14, 13 in the plunger to the cylinder C which is reciprocated on the plunger, and is provided with a discharge valve 27 and a nozzle E. The cylinder is depressed by means of a push-button D and is raised by springs 22, 23. When the apparatus is not in use the passage 13 is closed by a valve F, which is connected to the discharge valve by means of a rod 29. The head of the cylinder C carries a rod 34 having a lateral pin 42. In the position shown, the pin engages a bayonet slot in a central sleeve 39 of the push-button. At the same time a spring-pressed sleeve 43 engages the brush casing 45, and the pump is locked. To operate the pump the push-button is raised and rotated until the flange at the lower end of the sleeve 39 engages the pin 42. Specification 406,519, [Group XXIII], is referred to.
