[Class 82 (ii)] [Also in Groups III and XXX] Apparatus for treating articles with liquid or gaseous agents, as in de-greasing or pickling metal parts, comprises a vessel 1 divided by a partition 2 and containing a chain conveyer 4 carrying frames 6 rotatably supporting casings 7 containing baskets 5 in which are the articles to be treated; when the casing 7 has become immersed, a spring-pressed guide 11 engages the frame 6 and holds a friction surface 12 of the casing 7 against a roller 14 driven by a motor, whereby the casing is rotated. As the casing rises, spring pressed guide 15 and roller 16 driven by chain 17 cause further rotation. As the casings reach rotation points, the conveyer 4 may be automatically stopped, restarting being effected either automatically or by hand after a desired interval. Further rotation points may be provided, the casings 7 being correspondingly spaced on the conveyer. The casings 7 may be omitted, the baskets 5 being then rotated directly.
