[Class 82 (ii)] In an apparatus for the treatment of articles with liquids a basket 9 containing the articles is carried by a frame 7 supported on the conveyer belt 5 and provided with a boss 10 which as the basket is immersed in the bath by the motion of the belt, engages with guides 11 and then with a pivoted lever 2. The lever is rocked by mechanism outside the bath 1 so that the frame and basket are rocked to and fro in the bath. When the basket is fully immersed the motion of the conveyer chain may be temporarily stopped so as to prolong the duration of immersion. More than one basket may be immersed at once and in the case of several baths each is provided with a pivoted rocking lever, the several levers being coupled together. The immersion and lifting of the basket may be effected by hand, provided that in the immersed position the basket is engaged with the rocking lever.
