Class 82(2) In apparatus for cleaning metallic articles in which a permeable container 4 for the articles is adapted to be suspended by means of a flexible member 6 within a bath 3 containing cleaning liquid, the flexible member is connected at its upper end to drum 7 secured to horizontal and rotatable shaft 8, said shaft carrying eccentric means 9 which engages with the flexible member after a predetermined angular movement of the shaft in one direction so that continued angular movement of the shaft will cause the container to be moved laterally with respect to the bath. Container 4 is mounted for rotation about its axis and is attached to flexible member 6 via frame 5. Eccentric 9 extends between plates 10 disposed at opposite sides of drum 7. On rotation of shaft 8, container 4 is raised from bath 3 and moved laterally when eccentric 9 contacts member 6 (Fig. 2, not shown). According to the Provisional Specification, container 4 is rotated by being connected as by belts or the like to a driven shaft supported in frame 5 above the container.
