Abstract
Apparatus for continuous treatment of articles in liquid, e.g for pickling or quenching, comprises a container 4 for the liquid in which is mounted a stationary disc 1 having a pair of annular flanges 41, 42, and a rotating disc 2 having a number of projecting vanes which enter the space between the annular flanges and divide such space into a number of compartments. As the disc 2 rotates, the compartments rotate and any articles therein are carried through the liquid bath. An article may be fed in at shoot 5, through a gap 43 in the outer annular flange 42 into a compartment, and when the compartment has taken the article through the liquid bath it is discharged by gravity when it reaches gap 46 in the inner annular flange 41, and leaves down a discharge shoot. Rotation of the disc 2 is effected intermittently by an electrically driven disc 50 carrying rollers 54 which strike radial arms 15 fixed to the outer face of disc 2. Electric immersion heaters 7 may be provided in the bath.
