Abstract

495,584. Cleaning furs. ALLBOOK & HASHFIELD, Ltd., and HASHFIELD, L. July 15, 1937, No. 19590. [Class 138 (i)] An apparatus for cleaning furs by the use of an abrasive such as sand comprises a drum which is mounted for rotation in bearings 7, 8 and is divided, by a central partition, into a compartment 1 in which the furs are rumbled in the presence of sand and a compartment 2 which is formed of perforated metal or wire mesh so that the sand may be ejected from the furs. The compartments are fitted with shelves. The drum is rotated by an electric motor 12 through a countershaft 15 and belt 11. The motor is carried by the frame 9 which supports the drum, so that the apparatus is transportable as a unit.
