[Class 76] In the tanning or dressing of skins, pelts &c. the articles are fixed in or on oscillating supports the plane of the oscillations being at least in part at right angles to the surface of the articles to be treated. The oscillations are preferably in a circular path and may be at the rate of from 300 to 6,000 per minute. In the arrangement shown in Fig. 1, hides &c. H are fixed in a frame to which is transmitted a rotary oscillation within the trough T. The hides may also be mounted in frames in a horizontal plane or enclosed between perforated cylinders E, F oscillated in a plane A, B, C, D.
