Abstract
Ultrasonic oscillations are applied to the liquid used in the dyeing of leather, hides, skins, furs and the like so as to shorten and intensify the treatment. Frequencies preferred are 200,000 to 3,000,000 cycles per second which may be obtained by voltages of 220 to 10,000 volts and current intensities of 10 to 200 amperes. The duration of treatment is from 2 minutes to 48 hours or even more, but destruction of the albumin of the leather must be avoided by e.g. varying the frequencies, changing the liquid bath, moving the source of oscillations in relation to the liquid in the bath and vice versa. The temperature of treatment is from freezing point to approximately 53 DEG C. and in certain cases, e.g. boiling-proof leather, up to 95 DEG C.ALSO:Ultrasonic oscillations are applied to a liquid used in the treatment of leather, hides, skins, furs and the like.
