Abstract
527,432. Twin, fuselage aeroplanes. BURNELLI AIRCRAFT CORPORATION. March 30, 1939, No. 9954. Convention date, April 7, 1938. [Class 4] An aeroplane comprises a central wing section affording the major lift, twin fuselages, and lateral wing sections, engines being mounted at the leading edge of the central wing section, and doors for passenger use being provided in the fuselages rearwardly of the central wing section. Passenger accommodation is provided in the central wing section and in the fuselages. In the form shown, the central wing section 1 merges into rearwardly extending hollow booms 6 and 7 that carry the empennage 8 and serve as passenger passageways, being provided with doors 9 and 10. Seating accommodation is indicated at 11, toilet facilities at 15 and 16 and ventilation means at V. The pilot's cockpit 17 has a hatch 18 disposed above the engines to permit of lateral vision. The hatch may be telescopic so that the pilot may raise the hatch and stand or raise his seat to increase; his range of vision. Two sets of landing wheels, 21 and 24, are shown having oleo struts and retracting means. The outer wing sections 2 and 3 are provided with ailerons 29 and flaps, and fuel may be carried in the tanks 31.
