Abstract

526,994. Umbrellas. AMARU, E. March 31, 1939, No. 10055. Convention date, Jan. 4, 1939. Addition to 526,993. [Class 134] [Also in Group XXXI] The two clips described in the parent Specification for gripping the handle of the umbrella are replaced by a single clip comprising a fixed jaw 8<SP>1</SP> rigid with the quadrant 9, and a movable jaw 8<SP>11</SP> hinged by means of bent-up lugs 20, 21 and a pin 22, the jaw 8<SP>11</SP> being clamped in the gripping position by means of a screw-pin 24 pivoted between a pair of lugs 25 on the jaw 8' and provided with a knurled nut 26<SP>1</SP> adapted to engage a slotted flange 27 on the jaw 8". The movable jaw 8" is acted upon by a spring 29 mounted on the pin 22. The jaws are provided with a resilient lining 28. The sleeve 4 in which the supporting tube 6 is adjustably mounted is in the form of a split clamp provided with a pair of lugs 31 and a screw 32 and wing-nut 33.
