Abstract

651,508. Holder for cleaning pads. ADAMS, G. S. Oct. 28, 1946, No. 19737/49. Divided out of 31907/46 under which a Specification was laid open to inspection under Sect. 91 of the Acts, April 30, 1947. [Class 61(ii)] In a holder for a cleaning pad, see Specification 651,454, the pad is secured by resilient means to the extremity of a curved end portion of a tubular stem and is releasable therefrom by means operated from the end of the tubular stem remote from the pad. In the embodiment of Fig. 1, a cylindrical pad 28 is held against the mouth of the curved portion of the tube 10 by a loop of wire 24 pulled inwardly by a spring 20 which is held under tension by a rod 16. The pad is released by turning the rod 16 whereby a pair of diametrically opposite projections 30, Fig. 2, on the rod are disengaged from corresponding abutments 32 in the tube allowing the rod 16 to slide inwardly. In the embodiment of Figs. 3 and 4, the pad 210 is gripped between jaws 42, 44, closed by means of a compression spring 36 which acts upon a stud 130 secured to the end of a rod or wire 128 which is displaceable inwardly by means of the knob 132 to release the pad.
