[Class 61 (i)] A socket device for attaching a handle to a brush, mop, &c., provided with a fixing bar or tube 11 comprises a fixed jaw 14 integral with the socket 10 and a movable jaw 15 riveted to the fixed jaw 14 and so mounted that the jaws are normally apart. The movable jaw 15 is forced towards the jaw 14 to clamp the bar &c. by a pivoted lever 18 having a curved cam portion 19 bearing on the back of the jaw 15.
