526,796. Pipe joints. COUTY, N. M. Aug. 2, 1939, No. 22463. Convention date, Aug. 22, 1938. [Class 99 (i)] A swivelling joint comprises a pipe 3 slidable within a gland-nut 5 screwed into a socket 11, a flare 9 or other projection being adapted to seat itself on a gasket 14 contained in a recess in the nut. The threaded connection may be tapered in such a way that the end of the nut is deformed to press the packing on the pipe.
