526,369. Windows. JARAY, K. March 14, 1939, No. 8190. [Class 20 (iii)] A tiltable window sash 4 is fitted at its upper end with rollers 6 which coact with stationary vertical guides 7, Fig. 3, and in its lower frame member, with hand - controlled draw - bars 13, Fig. 6, adapted to lock those ends of pivoted stays or bars 16 which are mounted for sliding movement in guides 19 the sash frame stiles. The draw-bars may be operated by an eccentric pin- and-slot device 27, 28 controlled by a handle 15. The outer end of each draw-bar has a pin- and-slot connection 11, 12 with a toothed rack 8 which, when the draw-bar is moved outwards, is moved downwards and outwards and engages with, and thereby locks, a toothed block 18 mounted on the stay 16. The stays are under tension when locked in the window-open position. In a modification, the rack is replaced by a wedge-shaped strip which engages frictionally in a groove formed in the block 18. The outer frame of the sash carries an inner glazed casement frame 29 which is hinged to the outer frame. A blind 31 may be fixed on the upper rail of the sash 4.
