953,589. Double glazed windows; roller blinds: window frames. H. J. HENDRA. Aug. 22, 1961, No. 30167/61. Headings E1J and E1R. The frame for a hermetically sealed doubleglazed window accommodating an internal roller blind comprises hollow top and bottom extruded rails 8, 1 and extruded channel shaped stiles 2, 3, each having twin ribs such that when the frame is assembled the ribs form continuous inner glazing bars for the double glazing, the ribs being rabetted and the panels 14 secured in place by glazing bars 13, Fig. 4, the roller 7 of the blind being accommodated in the upper rail and having an extension shaft passing through one of the stiles with a hermetic seal between the shaft and stile 3, otherwise all the operating mechanism for the blind is outside the space between the double glazing. The top rail and bottom rail have flanges which overlap the stiles 2, 3 and are sealed thereto. The top rail has a slot between its twin ribs 13 for the passage of the blind and the bottom rail has a slot so one side of the twin ribs, Fig. 4 for the passage of a finger control device 13 which projects into the rail 1 and has mounted thereon two rollers 12 which engage on either side in the grooves of a spiral bar 11 having a shaft and projecting into the stile 3 and carrying thereon a sheave 5 which is coupled by an endless chain 6 to the sheave 5 on the roller shaft 7, so that movement of the device 13 along the rail 1 produces rotation of the blind roller.
