Abstract

The windows are made as a single unit and are easily adapted to fit any type of opening frame. Each unit consits of a continuous outer frame bordering at least three sides of the opening, the upper horizontal and the two vertical sides. Braces are placed at intervals inside the outer frame. a rectangular fixed frame may have two corss-pieces or two runner supports, depending on the type of window, linked by two uprights, each one resting on the braces attached to the outer frame. Two shutter tracks are also placed on the sides of the outer frame and the roller shutter and its drive mechanism are located between the upper crosspiece of the outer frame and that of the fixed frame. Fish-plates are used to lock the uprights of the fixed frame and the shutter-tracks onto the braces.
