Abstract
526,162. Aeroplanes. PROSDOCIMI, A. Dec. 3, 1938, Nos. 35311 and 35312. Convention dates, Dec. 3, 1937, and April 5, 1938. [Class 4] The main wings A, A<1> of an aeroplane can be turned during flight until their rear edges meet beneath the fuselage, the tail planes B, B' being rotated in a similar manner. An upper plane D is moved bodily forward as the main planes are swung back, to preserve the balance of the aeroplane. The main planes are turned about hollow pivots E, E<1> by rotating a shaft I, having a worm H engaging teeth G, G<1> on the wings, the shaft I being connected by chains and sprockets to two shafts O, O<1> having respectively a worm P for actuating the tail planes B and a screw for traversing a nut Q connected by links to the plane D which moves along guides S, S<1>. Motors drive two oppositely rotating propellers, and retractable undercarriages are carried by the wings A, A<1> and actuated by hydraulic gear supplied through the pivots E, E<1> in conjunction with the movement of the wings.
