415,736. Seaplanes. DORNIERMETALLBAUTEN GES., and DORNIER, C., Friedrichshafen, Lake Constance, Germany. Feb. 12, 1934, No. 4626. Convention date, March 3, 1933. [Class 4.] A seaplane has at least two propellers mounted on or in front of the main wings which are tiltable in a fore and aft direction or tiltable and vertically movable to enable the propellers to clear the water when alighting or taking off. Wing floats may be interconnected with the propellers so as to move into operative position when the propellers are moved upwards and retracted when the propellers are in their normal position. A propeller is shown tiltable with its motor about a pivot 7. A float 4 normally forming part of the engine fairing is carried on links 5 and is lowered as the propeller is tilted upwards. A modification is described in which the motor and propeller are carried on linkwork which enables them to rise as well as tilt. The propellers only may be tiltable in which case they are connected to their motors by articulated shafts.
