Abstract

151,153. Eeman, L. E. Sept. 3, 1919. Floats, arrangement and disposition of.-The floats of a seaplane are universally mounted on the fuselage, and means controlled by the pilot are provided for giving the floats definite angular positions. The greatest buoyancy of the floats is at the forward end, and they are provided with fixed or movable fins at the stern. The seaplane a has floats c mounted on a universal joint, each float having fins d, h. A similar tail-float i may be fitted. The float c has bosses g, Fig. 3, upon which a frame f can oscillate and which is also rotatable on a vertical spindle e attached to the fuselage. Bowden wire or similar controls are provided whereby the pilot may position the floats and their fittings.
