413,993. Aeroplanes. DORNIERMETALLBAUTEN GES., and DORNIER, C., Friedrichshafen, Lake Constance, Germany. Feb. 14, 1934, No. 4918. Convention date, March 11, 1933. [Class 4.] A landplane has a single tractor propeller with its axis normally parallel to the wing chord, but adapted to be vertically displaceable and/or upwardly tilted to clear the ground when taxying. The tilting mechanism may be interconnected to a retractable undercarriage. A propeller is shown tiltable with its engine and casing 2 about a pivot 4 at the front of the fuselage, but a fixed engine with a flexible or articulated propeller shaft may be used. A short undercarriage comprising wheels carried on pivoted arms 7 is provided and is raised by cables 9 connected to rods 11 coupled to the casing 2.
