Abstract
522,296. Aeroplanes. GUIGUES DE MORETON DE CHABRILLAN, J. M. P. J. H. R. R., and DECROIX, P. M. E. May 26, 1939, Nos. 15725 and 15726. Convention dates, Dec. 8, 1938, and Feb. 16, 1939. [Class 4] An aircraft comprises a main lifting system, having its centre of pressure behind the centre of gravity of the craft, and a stabilizing aerofoil of adjustable lift arranged forward of and well above the centre of gravity so that both its lift and drag have a movement about the transverse axis through the centre of gravity. An aeroplane is shown having a main wing 3, with its centre of pressure 4 behind the centre of gravity 8, and a stabilizing plane 10 pivoted about its centre of pressure 12. A part only of the plane 10 may be tiltable. The plane 10 may have a slot forming slat 30, Fig. 7, instead of or in addition to the plane being pivoted, the slat being interconnected by a sliding rod 27 to a hinged trailing flap 24 and operated through a flexible connection by a lever 32. The slot forming means may be operated in conjunction with slot forming means on the main planes. A fin 5 and rudder 6 is provided but there is no stabilizing tail.
